A "Bright" Idea

Google is alot of fun.In particular when you are an intern wedding planner. In fact I have a habit of finding some of the most interesting ideas, because I tend to get inspired, by the little things. I was on Twitter when I saw a familiar word; Light bulb. Now you may not understand why the word light bulb stood out to me on Twitter, so let me explain. The band Anthem Lights likes to call their fans light bulbs, because as Christians we are to be a light in the world. Do you get it? Good. If not, we shall talk more on this. Anyway I am a light bulb and proud of it. So I got to thinking, is there anybody out there in the world who would use the common light bulb as a theme or use it as decor. Well Google answered my question, and I was surprised and amazed at what one can do with light bulbs at a wedding. Here's what my search gave me..

Take light bulbs outdoors and fill them with flowers, or anything to add something unique to your venue.

Dance under the bulbs with your sweetheart and friends and family. Maybe not quite as romantic as dancing under the stars, but at least you can see everybody! Honestly I think it's romantic...turn out all the lights and just dance.....

Afraid of glass breaking? Well nobody said you had to use real light bulbs... use light bulb shaped paper lanterns!

Continue the theme with a light bulb shaped grooms cake!

Light bulb place cards!!! Cute!

Don't stop with decor, take the theme to footwear... light up your aisle in style! That goes with the decor, Fun picture idea!

Now you know that there are fun ideas with common household items! It really gives you the best of two worlds, modern and classic. When done tastefully and creative you can pull it off! I am going to end this with a popular song that is very popular at weddings now. Have a great day all!

Honey and the Bee

I get inspired by the most random things at times. I have been wanting the Owl City CD All Things Bright and Beautiful. So when it came into the mail after i ordered it, i wasted no time to listen to it, and then proceed to put the songs I liked on to my MP3. Now I can take it, and listen to it wherever I go. I have a new favorite. Now I have always loved owl city's Vanilla Twilight. Now the title of the song is actually the title of my blog. I really couldn't come up with anything else. No the real reason was it inspired me to use the song as a theme for an outdoor wedding. Not sure exactly how I am going to go about this. But it i think it would be cute.

CONFESSION:

So I have been anticipating the fall wedding season. I am waiting and willing to be apart of my first wedding season. I think that in all honesty, i think it would be a real test of everything i know. In a way i wonder of i am ready for this big step. to answer my own question, I do believe i am ready. It should be fun.

TREND ALERT:
Green. Yes you read right, green is in.Looking through different bridal magazines the color green keeps popping up, and I have also heard of brides myself choosing the color. Green is outdoorsy and fresh. What do you think of green? There are lovely shades of green out there....

UPDATE:
I have a couple of events that i will be attending. One is personal and the other is business. The second will be announced sometime next week. the first, I will be enjoying some time with some friends, whom I feel i haven't seen in ages. It really has been ages come to think of it. The store was insanely busy yesterday, but after awhile no body was really coming in. We have had quite a few day's like that to be honest. Yet it will be interesting to see how busy the store gets the closer I get to the fall wedding season.

I'm Only Human

CONFESSION:
As much as I would like to pretend to be Wonder Woman, sadly I am not. I may have a day where I can roll up my sleeves and pull out a girls dream wedding dress, but there are day's where people cross my path and leave me with a spinning head. Today was one of those day's. Here's a low down.

In a way it was a good thing. It tested my level of stress and how far I could go without completely losing myself. BR AVA! I remained professional and suffered the headache as an aftermath.

My wedding gown appointments today were almost back to back, and so easy. Easy in comparison to the first appointment. One was going vintage the other comfort elegance.

I didn't have to deal with the other momzillia but it was ( in my opinion) not so great to complain about a small alterations problem, a problem that can be easily fixed in front of a bride-to-be. It's stressful enough as it is to be tyring to figure out your style of wedding gowns and pick one that not only set's the tone for the wedding but also looks fantastic on you as well. And using the big mirror while a bride is standing and waiting to show her mom a dress. I am sorry but my bride come first! She was there before the other woman was there, and therefore had first dibs on the mirror. That is simply my opinion on this matter. The problem is going to be fixed and the bride thankfully, was fantastic and I will be seeing her next Saturday, and hopefully she will be getting the dress of her dreams!

After all the drama I experienced today, some stressful moments. I look back and I ask myself the question,; Do I still love my job?? The answer is Yes. I love my job. I love making a girls dream come true and being able to see her just glow in the dress that is meant for her. My brides are fantastic! I love them! At the end of the day, i still feel passionate about my job. It can be stressful and full of drama, but in the end result is worth the time and energy I put into each appointment.

I have had moments that do make me stressful but it's one of those things that I realize that it's because i am carrying the load all by myself.....again! I know that I have Someone willing to help me by taking my extra baggage and pull me out of the muck. I try to convince myself that I am okay with the load, but it's a lie I tell myself. Do you tell yourself the same thing? It's so easy to tell ourselves that we can handle whatever that comes our way, and maybe for alittle while we can. But in the end we find out that we can't. Not really, and most deff, not by ourselves! Think about it for a moment. This doesn't just apply to weddings but also to our entire lives!

I just had to share with you what has been going on. =) I am getting closer to my dream, and that requires refining me, like you refine gold! I'm not perfect, and I'm never going to be in this life! and you know what? That is okay. =) I am fine and I still have alot to learn. I know this, and to the challenge i say, Bring it on!

A nod to the Classics

This morning I woke up and felt like I wanted to be transported to a different time period. Ever have a morning like that? My favorite points in American history are also my favorite time periods concerning fashion as well. In particular I love the 30's, 40's and to a point ( fashion wise) the 50's. Vintage is hot now folks! Especially those cute short dresses that became popular due to the hard times America faced. I want to take this time and show you my favorite dresses from these eras. These eras defined modern fashion, and makes itself a keepsake to be treasured today. You would be amazed at the similarities between these dresses!
